Hi Eric as a new member of the london Shootfighters team, tell us how it came about.
After arriving in LA to train at Legends gym, I met Marios Demetriades of London Shoot and he kind of took me under his wing and began training me. I was so used to structure in my training that I felt pretty disillusioned when I got to Hollywood and it all seemed to be on your own. So Marios was pretty much my first trainer in mma and he brought me to London several years ago to train here and I always believed being a part of the London Shoot would be the necessary step to take my career in the direction I originally got into this sport for, which was to be a UFC champion.

LIke many of the best American fighters, you come from a wrestling background, can you tell us about your wrestling credentials and why you got into MMA?
I am a 2x Big Ten Champion and 2x All-American wrestler. I attended Penn State University on a full scholarship. After seeing my one of my former coaches Josh Koshceck doing so well in the sport, I was very interested. It was actually an agent from Los Angeles named Nate Adams though who got me involved and brought me out to Hollywood to train at Legends Gym.
Who are some of the well known fighters and teams you've trained with over the years?
I have trained with Quinton Jackson, Randy Couture, BJ Penn, Gilbert Yvel, Big Country Roy Nelson, and Josh Koscheck to name a few haha.
How is the training going at London Shoot?
Training is amazing. I feel in the month of been here, I have picked up so much and improved on so many aspects of my game. There's no substitute for all the sparring we do. >
The UK isn't known for its strong wrestling, how have you found it at London Shootfighters.?
I think London Shootfighters has the best mix of training I have ever been to, and not to sound slutty but I have trained at a lot of gyms. I think the UK wrestling scene is changing fast and the shootfighter is a big part of that movement bringing over top european talent.
Do you have any upcoming fights?
I have a fight in scheduled to take place in Croatia on June 4th >
Finally, your friend and training partner John Hathaway is about to fight Diego Sanchez, any predictions?
I have total respect for Diego's game and I think he is going to be a tough fight for any one but right now John just feels a bit too untouchable. I see John finishing the fight before the end of three rounds.
Thanks for your time.
